Best Time to Visit Bali 2026 — Month by Month Guide (Avoid These Months!)

📅 Published: March 7, 2026 ⏱ 3 min read ✍️ Smart Travel Planner

Bali is one of the most visited islands in the world — and for good reason. With its stunning temples, lush rice terraces, world-class surf and vibrant nightlife, there is truly no bad time to visit. But depending on what kind of trip you want, some months are far better than others.

In this guide we break down every single month so you know exactly when to book your Bali trip.

The Two Seasons in Bali

Dry Season (April to October) — This is peak time for most travellers. Expect blue skies, low humidity and perfect beach weather. July and August are the busiest and most expensive months of the year.

Wet Season (November to March) — Rain falls mostly in short afternoon bursts rather than all day. Prices drop significantly and crowds thin out. Many experienced travellers actually prefer Bali in the wet season for this reason.

Best Time for Different Types of Travellers

Best for beaches & sunshine: May–June or September–October — dry season without peak crowds.

Best for budget travellers: January–March — prices are at their lowest and the island is uncrowded.

Best for surfing: June–September — dry season swells make this the best time for surf.

Best for culture: March — Nyepi (Balinese New Year) is an extraordinary experience where the entire island goes silent for 24 hours. No lights, no traffic, no noise.

Best to avoid crowds: January–March — the island is at its most peaceful and authentic.

July & August — What to Know

Peak season in Bali is real. During July and August the island sees its highest visitor numbers — prices for flights and hotels can be 30–50% higher than the rest of the year. Popular areas like Seminyak, Ubud and Kuta are very busy. If you're visiting during this time, book accommodation at least 3–4 months in advance.

Should You Visit in the Wet Season?

Many experienced Bali travellers actually prefer the wet season (November–March). Here's why: prices are significantly lower, the island is much less crowded, the rice terraces are at their most lush and green, and the rain usually only falls for a couple of hours in the afternoon — mornings are often sunny and clear.
