❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Dubai and the UAE use Type G plugs (the same as the UK) operating at 220–240V. UK travellers do not need an adapter. US, Australian and European travellers need a Type G adapter.
A universal travel adapter works in most countries and typically covers Type A, B, C, G and I sockets covering over 150 countries. Look for one with built-in USB ports and surge protection.
Most modern electronics (laptops, phone chargers, cameras) are dual voltage (100–240V) and only need an adapter not a converter. Check your device's power brick — if it says 100–240V you only need an adapter.
Thailand uses Type A, B and C sockets operating at 220V. US travellers with Type A plugs can often plug in directly to Type A sockets but should use a voltage converter if their device is not dual voltage.
Type G plugs (3 rectangular pins) are used in the UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kenya, Nigeria, Cyprus and several other countries formerly associated with Britain.
